General mod options:
The Hotfix Mod resp. the Aranna Legacy mod supports some extra options (widely identical for both mods), you could add them in the DungeonSiege2(BrokenWorld).ini file (it's next to your savegames) or append them at the end of the command line of your DS2 shortcut. Both mods are tuned/tested for the current option defaults, however you probably prefer to influence yourself some of the corresponding features.
- difficulty = 100
Value range 50-500, 100 means normal difficulty. 50 will make the game notably easier, with 500 it becomes quite dangerous.
- difficulty_mode_ratio = 10
Value range is 1-100 to define how much harder veteran mode will be compared to mercenary resp. elite compared to veteran. Mutliplayer is considered as further 'difficulty mode' compared to Singleplayer.
The option has been added in meaning of a game fix because the many player consider mercenary mode as harder than veteran and even elite mode.
Note that for the Aranna Legacy mod the default is 5 since the addon/v2.3 is natively some more balanced.
- game_speed = 100
Value range 10-300, low values will slow-down and high values will speed-up the game and all actions that happen, 100 means normal game speed.
- run_speed_tweak = 100
Value range 25-250, to make your party members run faster/slower. The default is 100 for normal moving speed, higher values often make the gameplay subjectively easier.
- run_speed_by_dex = 100
Value range 15-150 or -1 to turn this feature off, to define the positive influence of dexterity on moving speed. Note that this feature hasn't a linear behaviour (not to make run away ranged chars from other party members).
- run_speed_cargo_bonus = 10
Value range 1-30 or -1 to trun this feature off, to define the movement speed variance depending on the amount of items in your char's inventory. For example 10 means +5% speed for an empty inventory and -5% for when your char inventory is full.
Actually this feature isn't fully linear, so carrying eg. melee weapons will slow down a bit more than eg. mage armors/cloths do.
- buff_effect_duration = -1
Value range 0-∞ (or -1 to ignore this option) to set a time limit (in seconds) for the visual long-term effect of buff spells. The initial cast effect will be persisted in all cases, also this setting doesn't impact the effect duration for spell bonus.
- pet_aura_effect_mode = 4
This option will help you to suppress the visual effect of pet emanations.
Values from -4 until 4 are accepted with the following meaning:
0: No visual effects at all.
1: Effect for the pet only.
2: Effects for party members.
3: Effects for party members and their summons.
4: Effects for party members, their summons and loyal NPCs (default).
Now negative numbers (-1/-2/-3/-4) will keep the meaning as described above but the usual visual effect on the pet itself will be smaller (larger part will be disabled).
Note that this option works independing on the emanation bonuses, in all these cases the bonuses still affect party members, their summons and loyal NPCs.
- pet_focus_latency = 0.0
Intended to intercept accidental clicks on pets in combat. Value range 0.0-∞, by default this feature is disabled (thus 0.0) but you may set here an individual delay how long you need to hold the mouse cursor above your pet before any right-clicks on the pet will be accepted.
Recommended is a value of approximately 2.0 seconds (decimal digits will be respected here). This option is not active if the game is paused and it has no impact for healing or buffing (by left-clicks). Also you still can select/focus a pet by function keys or by clicking on its party member icon on the left side of the screen.
In meantime this option would also accept any negative value, in this case there will be no more temporal latency at all, but to select the pet now the ALT key must be pressed down before you left-click on the pet.
- pet_dire_wolf_black = false
Set this on true to make your Dire Wolf look a lot darker.
- pet_mythrilhorn_golden = false
Accepts true or false. Picks up an modding idea by Volkan, here however the alternative texture for the Mythrilhorn pet is golden if you would set this option on true.
- save_town_portal = false
Set this on true if you want the town portal (from the previous game session) to reopen automatically at session start. Although this feature is quite useful, it's not uncritical - thus please make a backup from your savegames first! If you face problems then better re-enter the region from the last teleporter station.
- multi_summon = true
Accepts true or false, to enable/disable the availability of multiple summoned monsters for one mage. Default is true to allow 1 further summons per 8 skill points at 'Summon Might'.
- half_as_skilled = false
This is another difficulty related opion, this time however seriously affecting your savegame/char-build (thus use it with care). Accepts true, inverse or false, if true you will get the half amount of skill points (one skill point every second/even char-level).
- damage_reflection_effect = true
Set this on false if you want to disable the visual effect caused by 'Physical Damage Reflected to Enemy' bonuses.
- spear_effect_left = false
Set this on true so magical effects will become visible also for the spear in the left hand.
- ranged_nature_treeless = false
Accepts true or false. By default the visual effect of the Sharpshooter spell (for ranged and nature magic classed chars) attaches a shiny little tree on your char's back to symbolize camouflage, this looks quite funny however there is also a less spectacular but more sniper-like camouflage effect, true would enable it.
- autocast_slots = 4
Value range 0-6, to define the amount of autocast slots (although the look of the spellbook-gui won't change). Default is 4 while 0 would turn off auto-casting, and with 5 or 6 also reserve slots will be checked for possible spells to be auto-casted.
- quiver_mode = 4
Accpets a number from 0 until 4 to define when/where quivers will be added.
0: never, 1: bows only, 2: all ranged weapons expect of spears/javelins, 3/4: for all ranged weapons.
- brilliant_regeneration = 0
Value range 1-3 to represent a bonus-multiplier affecting brilliance skill in special manner.
This option experimentally has been added due to mod-compatibilty issues and picks up Lady Femme's idea to change the meaning of the Brilliance skill from 'increasing your maximum mana' into 'increasing your mana regeneration'. So the value of 2 would multiply the indicated Brilliance skill bonus (e.g. +8% mana) and apply this on your char as increased mana regeneration (thus: +16% mana regeneration).
As tested using a value of 1 is eventually no adequate substitution while with 3 the regenerated mana almost would splash out of your char's ears. So if you like this switch then it's recommended to set 2 which usually is convenient. Maybe remind that in DS2 there are already many other ways to increase your mana regeneration - by items, buff spells, pet emanations and functionally by mana leeching too.
- party_order_panel = false
Accepts true or false, to enable/disable a little extra panel to display the four party formations. Default is true.
- rename_party_member = [OldName]:[NewName]
This is a very experimental option to rename party members, please see the example how to use it.
- vitality_to_autocast = 100
Rather experimental, expects a value greater 0, however recommended is a value close below/above 100. This setting represents a threshold and has some influence on the probability whether or not injured party members will auto-cast (>100: less often, <100 more often), please see Beta3m/Alpha2e for details.
- multi_shot_force_sync = false
For v2.2 only. Set this on true in case the center arrow with multi-shots would fly faster than all other projectiles.
- recipe_transfer = false
For v2.3/BW only. Set this on true to transfer your reagent recipes from mercenary into veteran mode (resp. from veteran to elite mode). Please note, this is experimental and it's strongly recommended to do a manual backup from your savegames first.
In-game options:
There are also some map related tweaks you can use while playing.
- Speed valves:
Next to the jail at Eirulan there are some valves to adjust and try out different speed settings, its state will be saved party-wise (while a manual setting for game_speed will affect all parties).
- Party conversation related button:
In the room behind Telinu (the Smith) at Eirulan there is a button to avoid the elimination of 'banter' triggers (responsible for conversation between party members). Its state will be saved map-wise, so for the Broken World map there is similar button in the stump next to your stash at the Dryad outpost.
- Direct teleport: Tutorial==> Eirulan
Originally this was intended as Easter egg to skip the tutorial level, however it may help too if you accidentally ground with a veteran/elite party at the Tutorial Beach again (seems to happen sometimes).
So on the north-western side break through a barrier (it will be breakable) and look for a large flat stone close to the opposite rock face, hit it right in the middle to start the teleportation to Eirulan (you will keep companions and equipment).
- Defining Drovan's destination
Drovan is by default a melee and combat-magically skilled char (supported by his weapon enchantment buff spell). But if you prefer you also can get him as Fist-of-Stone fighter (melee with nature magic), to achieve this place 3 nature-magical spells close to the wheelbarrow in front of his home.
Remind that there is no spell-support for Fist-of-Stone in v2.2, thus better use this (former test) tweak with the addon/v2.3 only.
